Following the success achieved in more than 150 cities worldwide, this live, multi-sensory musical experience will take place in unique locations across the country
Fever, the live-entertainment discovery platform known for helping millions of people find the best experiences in their cities, is bringing Candlelight Concerts to South Africa for the first time. Cape Town will host the first performances, featuring tributes to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Coldplay, and Hans Zimmer. The expansion into the region comes on the heels of the experience’s success, having delighted audiences in more than 150 cities worldwide, including New York, London, Madrid, Paris, Singapore and Tokyo.
Beginning on October 19th, the South African Sendinggestig Museum and the Star Theatre at the Homecoming Centre will be illuminated by thousands of candles, allowing audiences to fully immerse themselves in adapted musical performances played by local musicians. Featuring works from Vivaldi, Mozart, and Chopin, and including tributes to Queen, ABBA, Coldplay, and more, Candlelight concerts were launched in 2019 to democratize the access to classical music. The shows invite a broader audience that might have never considered a classical music concert before to connect with the most iconic pieces of the greatest composers and listen to the top hits of well-known artists differently.
This concept is renowned for taking classical performances beyond traditional concert halls, transforming unique venues that are part of each city’s cultural heritage with a globally renowned intimate and immersive candlelit setting. From modern rooftops with stunning views to iconic cathedrals and palaces, Candlelight concerts have been held in a variety of idyllic locations, including renowned venues like the Atomium in Belgium, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah in Dubai. This international concert series spans several cities across the Americas, Oceania, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Fever constantly strives to inspire its users with innovative experiences, coming up with and producing new 'Fever Original' ideas. Besides the Candlelight Concerts, these include The Queen's Ball: A Bridgerton Experience, Stranger Things: The Experience, Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience, and Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience. From October 9th, Cape Town will host Disney’s The Magic Box, a musical developed by Disney Theatrical Group and presented in association with Fever. The show weaves together beloved Disney songs, characters, and stories.
