Sydney | July 23, 2024 - Industry leaders of cultural entertainment in virtual reality, Excurio, along with global live-entertainment platform, Fever, today announce the Australian debut of Horizon of Khufu, a stunning immersive expedition in VR to the hidden wonders of Ancient Egypt, launching at Fever Pavilion on Thursday 5 September 2024.
Tickets are now on sale at horizonkheopsexperience.com/sydney.
A meticulously researched and otherworldly free-roaming VR experience, Horizon of Khufu offers Sydneysiders the chance to take a spectacular trip through time and space, back 4,500 years to the most iconic and historically significant Great Pyramids of Egypt - all without leaving the city.
First launched in Paris in June 2022 and currently active in the U.K., the U.S., and Canada, Horizon of Khufu has now delighted more than one million visitors across the globe, with an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars.
Masterfully designed by Egyptologist and Harvard University professor Peter Der Manuelian, Horizon of Khufu is one of the most accurate representations of ancient Egyptian history and architecture, with verified scientific and historical data from the Giza Project utilised to replicate the pyramids.
In a shared VR playspace, guests are transformed into giant avatars as their VR headsets provide exclusive access to the most fascinating aspects of Ancient Egypt - many of which are forbidden to the public in real life. Cutting-edge technology developed by Excurio allows guests to visualise other participants and experience realistic sensations with their family and friends throughout the 45-minute immersive expedition, providing a deeply engaging dive into the heart of Egyptian culture.
Lead by a virtual guide, the experience includes a majestic sunrise flight over the Giza Necropolis, known as one of the Seven Wonders of the World; an effortless ascent to the top of the Pyramid of Khufu for a thrilling 360-degree panorama; an exploration of the corridors and burial chambers of the Great Pyramid during the embalming ceremony; a discovery of the Queen's chamber; and a boat trip on the Nile to attend the funeral of King Khufu himself.
In the shadows of the Great Pyramids lay the silhouettes of mastabas, the tombs of deceased monarchs’ inner circles and families. After treading the eternal sands of the Giza Plateau to reach the majestic Sphinx, guests will make their way to the foot of the Pyramid of Giza for a breathtaking nightfall visit.
"With Immersive expeditions, we aim to make time travel a reality and bring the world's wonders to your doorstep," said Fabien Barati, CEO of Emissive. "Horizon of Khufu has been extremely well received across the globe by people of all ages. We hope you, too, will be captivated by this once-in-a-lifetime journey through ancient Egypt."
Phil Mallet, Originals Regional Manager from Fever said, "We are thrilled to continue working with Excurio and help them to bring the immersive expedition in VR 'Horizon of Khufu' to Australia for the first time. The way they have been using cutting-edge virtual reality technology to allow people to explore the wonders of ancient Egypt in an unprecedented way aligns perfectly with our mission to democratise culture and entertainment. This experience enables us to provide an educational and entertaining journey that bridges history with modern innovation, allowing visitors to experience the mysteries of the pyramids and Khufu's world as never before."
Horizon of Khufu is suitable for guests aged 8 years and older, with tickets starting at $27 per person. Various sessions will run every day of the week as of Thursday, 5 September, at Fever Pavilion, Sydney Olympic Park.
Tickets are available to purchase TODAY at horizonkheopsexperience.com/sydney and hi-res images and videos of the experience can be downloaded from the Fever Newsroom.
