Smuggle your liquor past the Warden and serve time at the ‘bar behind bars’ in this unique theatrical experience making its Australian debut this June
Melbourne | May 29, 2024 – Following its success and incredible reviews in the UK, the masterminds at Inventive Productions along with leading entertainment platform Fever, are proud to announce the launch of Alcotraz: Immersive Cocktail Experience in Melbourne this winter.
Drawing inspiration from popular Hollywood Movies and TV that have brought to life iconic prison stories, Alcotraz combines the allure of a speakeasy-style cocktail bar with the excitement of immersive theatre and interactive storylines. This adventure into the world of illegal contraband cocktails opened its doors at 592 Elizabeth Street on June 28, 2024.
Alcotraz is a totally unique experience for cocktail and mocktail enthusiasts and thrill seekers alike, offering patrons the chance to become part of the story that unfolds. Guests – or more appropriately ‘inmates’ – are encouraged to get creative with their smuggling tactics, or rely on the crooked guards' help to conceal contraband liquor and get it past the Warden.
Inmates will be led to their cell and given their own unique inmate number and orange jumpsuit to wear for the duration of their sentence. Once inside the Penitentiary, they can expect to encounter a cast of shady characters and the jail’s notorious bootlegging gang who will transform contraband liquor into bespoke, delicious cocktails.
Guests who manage to win the favour of the crooked guards will gain access to explore secret areas, such as the Solitary Confinement Block to hatch an escape plan with their gang or the Warden’s Office to negotiate their parole.
Whether it's a birthday bash, hens or bucks event, corporate celebration or quirky date night, Alcotraz will transport guests to a world previously unseen and throw them into the centre of a theatrical storyline filled with photo opportunities. If you are celebrating a special occasion, there is also the opportunity to become a character such as The Mole or The Janitor and see your friend, colleague or loved one at the centre of the drama that unfolds.
The combination of an authentic prison setting, interactive actor-led storytelling, and delicious cocktails promises to be something totally new to the Melbourne scene and an unforgettable night of thrills, spills, and entertainment.
